Do I need a vertical roof?
Whilst a vertical roof is not required, we highly recommend adding one or purchasing a package that includes ones. A vertical roof on a carport can increase snow load by up to 30 lbs sq ft
Is 12-gauge steel framing better than 14-gauge?
Yes, 12-gauge is better than 14-gauge steel. 12-gauge increase wind and snow load, adds increase support to the skeleton of the carport, and is less likely to rust. We offer a 20-year rust warranty on all 12-gauge steel framing. Read our Warranty Coverage page to learn more.
Do your carports use galvanized steel?
Yes! Both our 12-gauge and 14-gauge tubing are made of galvanized steel. Our 29-gauge and 26-gauge sheet metal are also galvanized. Galvanized steel, when paired with carports, is less prone to rust over time. We back this with a 20-year rust warranty on all carports with 12-gauge galvanized steel.
Why do carports cost more than they used to?
Many years ago, it was common to find carports on the side of the road for $795. Nowadays, the cheapest you’re likely to find a carport in the midwest is around $1,500.
The reason for the drastic increase in price was due to supply line shortages and difficulty with importing it during Covid. Steel prices spiked by over 200% in the later half of 2020, and have since struggled to go back down to what they were.
